Dear Neighbor,
If you're like me, some of your fondest childhood memories were created at your neighborhood park. A successful playground allows children of all ages the opportunity to challenge their motor skills on play / climbing structures. This also gives our children a place for positive social interaction with their peers.
Wellington Park, accessed from Kilburn or Princess Roads in West Newton, to date has no play / climbing structure for children to play on. With the help of our local aldermen, a budget of $12,500 was allocated for improvements to Wellington Park. We are asking you, a fellow neighbor, for help to supplement this city grant to build a safer and more durable play structure, as well a provide for some additional amenities such as park benches. A small contribution of even $10 would go a long way to improving our park.
The Newton Community Service Center has taken our organization under its non-profit status wing. Your tax-deductible donation for Wellington Park can be made to "Newton Community Service Centers, Inc." As long as Wellington Park Fund is written on the check, you can be assured that it will go towards the Wellington Park Play Equipment Fund. Wellington Park has also been selected as a Newton Serves volunteer project by Newton 2000.
If you would like to keep abreast of the latest Wellington Park developments, please check out our bulletin board at Wellington Park, or our web site at http://wellingtonpark.8m.com. You are also invited to receive our free email newsletter by sending email to WellingtonPark@aol.com.
This invitation is being sent with the hopes that you too feel the same sense of responsibility and pride in our neighborhood as we do. It is up to concerned citizens like us to help make Wellington Park a place where our children can go to climb on jungle gyms, slide down slides, and swing on swings.
We look forward to your support of such a worthy cause!
Sincerely,
Nancy E. Davis
