No, we are not trying to make the Wellington News a daily paper to compete with the Globe and the Herald. But we wanted to get some late breaking news out to you. You will find this newsletter MUCH shorter than the last one!
We pass along this invitation from Nancy and John McGrath who have kindly
offered to host a barbecue after our playground build on Saturday.
Thanks for your RSVP, so we'll know what you are bringing and how many people will appear. Dessert may be at another new neighbor's house--but that needs to get confirmed!

Well, plans are rolling on for the big day on Saturday. Now if only the weather would cooperate a little. As of this morning, the forecasts were looking somewhat optimistic - this evening somewhat less so. We would really try not to call off the build unless conditions became too rainy and possibly unsafe. We have a rain date of Sunday, and in case of total washout, the following weekend. Our number 969-6222 will reflect plans on build day as well as our website - www.wellingtonpark.org.
Thanks to Ann Dorfman for her recent effort contacting those who had indicated they could help with the build. If you have not indicated that you are coming yet, it would be appreciated. One could work either or both a morning shift (8-noon) or afternoon (noon-4). Please call 969-6222 and leave a message or send email to wellingtonpark@aol.com.
The signboards designed by Maria Plati went up this afternoon. Unfortunately, we didn't get placement down in West Newton Square (there is a Primary election on Tuesday). However, there are big signs at River and Waltham, River and Cherry, and Cherry and Derby.
Some of our committee met with Bob DeRubeis from Parks and Rec. at the park this morning to discuss the build. The removal of the current swing and benches will probably take place on Friday so as not to inconvenience users. On Friday, you may also see a big truck trailer parked in the grass along the north end of the basketball court. The grass will probably be mowed before then. We will probably get a load of mulch delivered near the Kilburn Road fence to build up the area where the bushes were planted last spring.
The Wellington Park Fund is currently at $4440! Special thanks to our latest donors, Frank and Lena D'Alleva (Lindbergh Avenue) and Mary Beth McIntyre (Waltham Street).
