Welcome to today's edition of the Wellington Daily Planet! We promise that you will not get the Wellington News on a daily basis after the play structure build. But until then, there is still information that we want to get out.
Wow! What a terrific job done by all the volunteers at Wellington Park today! The new structure and swings are magnificent. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! A further account of the day will follow in future issues (everyone should get some well deserved rest tonight).
Don't worry - this email will be mercifully short. A few volunteers under Phil Corbett's fine leadership may be needed at Wellington Park on Sunday around noon to complete the job of staking down the timbers. A slightly different approach may be used to make the job go much quicker. The two courses of timber may be spiked together and the rebar holes drilled out to a larger half-inch size to make the pounding go a lot easier.
We expect cement to be delivered late on Monday afternoon. We may need a few volunteers and a wheelbarrow or two to get the cement from the truck into a few of the holes. If you drive by there around that time and you see some folks working, feel free to come over and help. Most of the holes hopefully can be filled from the cement truck's chute directly. It will be MOST important that there be nobody on the structures for 24 hours after the cement is poured. Even now there should be no one near the structures due to the danger of falling in the holes and certainly nobody should be on the structures since it could throw off the leveling job done today.
Tuesday morning, we expect arrival of the missing puzzle pieces to complete the tube slide. Peter Budesh (who did a super job supervising our build) will return to complete the installation. Probably, late afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday, help will be needed in raking gravel and Fibar wood chips sometime between 4 and darkness. Drop by to see what is happening.
Thanks again for all your hard work today!
