Friends of Wellington Park
The new Sensory Dome play structure has been a resounding success with older children (5-12) and even some teens and adults! This
project, funded entirely by community donations totaling $114,000, provides inclusive play opportunities for all abilities. We're incredibly grateful to the over 200 donors who made this possible. Following some final adjustments by the installer in late November, the structure is now fully operational. We are also developing a new informational/appreciation sign adjacent to the dome that will include safety and usage info, project history, and acknowledgments. We presented a preliminary design to the Newton Parks and Recreation Commission in November.
Since November, the Friends of Wellington Park board has been working diligently to develop an improved sign design and update the proposed location.
